(sv) Att ”bevara någon i ett namn” – blir ett lite märkligt uttryck på svenska. Men på många ställen i Bibeln står ”namnet” för väsendet, essensen, karaktären eller till och med ”närvaron” hos den som bär namnet. Så när Jesus ber ”bevara dem i ditt namn” är det precis det som han menar: Älskade Helige Far, bevara mina efterföljare i ditt eget väsen – i din egen ande. Joh 17:11

På våra skolor och i alla våra verksamheter arbetar vi med ett ”karaktärsdaningsarbete” – som innebär både ordförståelse och återspegling hos den enskilde. Klassiska värderingar/dygder som kärlek, glädje, frid, tålamod, mildhet, godhet, trofasthet, saktmod och självbehärskning – andens frukt – behövs överallt i vår värld, nuförtiden. Gal 5:22-23

Vill du be den här bönen för dina följare? Vart du än går i skogar, berg och dalar genom livet får du ju många följare – inte minst på nätet. Be för dem alla – att de blir bevarade i Faderns anda och väsen. Själv blir du bevarad av bara farten när du ber för andra!

(en) To keep someone in a name – is a strange expression in English. But in many places in the Bible ”the name” stands for the nature, the essence, the character and even ”the presence” of the one carrying the name. So when Jesus prays ”keep them in your name” this is exactly what he means: Beloved Holy Father, keep my followers in your own character – in your own spirit. Joh 17:11

In our schools and in all of our organisations we are working with ”character formation” – it means both an understanding of the specific word but also a reflection or mirroring from the individual. Classic values/virtues like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – also called the fruit of the spirit – are very much needed everywhere in our world, nowadays. Gal 5:22-23

Wo´nt you pray this prayer for your followers? Wherever you go in the world, through life, you get many followers – not in the least on the internet. Pray for them all – that they will be kept in the spirit and essence of the Father. You yourself will be kept and protected – on the go – when you pray for others!

(sv) Jesus säger de mest oerhörda saker i sin ”sista bön”. Man blir överväldigad varje gång man läser det. ”Allt mitt är ditt och allt ditt är mitt” handlar om den mest djupgående och äkta förbundsrelation man kan föreställa sig. Här mellan Gud Fader själv i himmelen och Människan Jesus som mänsklighetens representant på jorden. Himmel och Jord möts i en gigantisk kosmisk kyss och ger varandra inte bara gåvor och presenter – utan precis allt.

Jesus fortsätter – i samma vers – och säger ”och jag är förhärligad i dem”. Plötsligt vänder han fokuset och lägger in hela förbundet mellan honom själv och Gud Fader rakt in i alla troendes själar. Han ger både sin och Faderns härlighet rakt in i hjärtat på alla som ”tog emot honom”.

Min vän, be nu med full frimodighet och ödmjuk stillhet inför Fadern – med Andens hjälp – samma bön vår Mästare bad – så ska du få se vad som händer… Joh 17:10; Joh 1:1-18

(en) Jesus says the most overwhelming things in his ”last prayer”. You hit the floor everytime you read it. ”And all mine are yours, and yours are mine” is about the most profound and honest covenant relationship you can imagine. Here it is between God the Father himself in Heaven and the Human Jesus as the representative of Humanity on Earth. Heaven and Earth meets in a gigantic cosmic kiss and give each other not just gifts and presents – but virtually all and everything.

Jesus continues – in the same breath – and says ”and I am glorified in them”. Suddenly he is shifting focus and throws the whole new covenant between himself and God the Father into the souls of all believers. He gives both his and his Fathers glory straight into the heart of those that ”received him”, ”to those who believed in his name”.

My friend, pray now with full confidence and humble serenity to the Father – with the help of the Helper, the Spirit – the same prayer as our Master prayed – then you will see what happens… Joh 17:10; Joh 1:1-18

(sv) Detta är något oerhört och enormt. Att Jesus ber för oss. ”Jag ber för dem”. Känn dig insvept i hans böner – på väg till Fadern och tillbaka igen! Som ett bönesvar. Joh 17:9.

Jesus säger att han inte ber för hela världen utan först nu för dem om vilka han säger ”de är dina” när han talar till Fadern. Så underbart att få bli kallad ”dina” när Jesus ber till sin och vår Far! Han säger inte ”mina” lika ofta i sin bön, trots att de har blivit givna till honom, utan han håller fast vid att de tillhör Gud Fader själv. Vi tillhör både Jesus och Gud. Joh 17:9.

Det är som att Han lämnar resten av världen åt oss att be för – så som Han ber. De som Fadern ger oss ber vi särskilt för. Vi ber ”för alla människor”, men särskilt för dem vi har fått en relation till – både troende och ännu inte troende. Vi ber för dem. 1 Tim 2:1.

”Så som du har sänt mig till världen, så har jag sänt dem till världen”. Så kommer också fler och fler människor till tro över hela världen. Mycket sakta på vissa ställen; betydligt snabbare på andra. De kommer till tro, hopp och kärlek. Genom att vi inkluderar dem i våra böner inför Gud Fader. Så drar Han dem till sig. Vi ber och Han drar 😉 Joh 17:18; 1 Kor 13:13; Joh 6:44.

(en) This is something huge and enormous. That Jesus is praying for you and me. ”I pray for them”. You are swept into His prayers – on your way to the Father and back again! Like an answer to prayer. Joh 17:9.

Jesus says that he is not praying for the whole world, but first now for those of which he says ”they are yours” when he is speaking so intimately to the Father. How wonderful to be called ”yours” when Jesus is praying to his and our Father! He does not say ”mine” that often in his prayer, in spite of that they have been given to him, but he remains with that they belong to God the Father himself. We belong to the Father and Jesus. Joh 17:9.

It is like He is leaving the rest of the world for us to pray for – as He prays. The ones the Father gives us we pray for – especially. We pray ”for all men”, but mainly for the ones we have been given a relationship to – both believers and not yet belivers. We pray for them. 1 Tim 2:1.

”As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world”. In accordance with this more and more people are coming to faith all over the world. Very slow in some places; much faster in other places. When we include them in our prayers before God the Father. Like this He draws them to himself. We pray and He is pulling on their hearts 😉 Joh 17:18; 1 Cor 13:13; Joh 6:44.

(sv) När Jesus ber ”jag har gett dem de ord som du gav till mig” sker det med en väldig tilltro till ordens egen verkan på lyssnarna. Han har ”gett dem” orden. Lyssnarna har ”tagit emot dem”. ORDEN är bärare av så mycket underbart från himmelen, evigt liv till exempel. Det är ”dödligt seriöst”. Det är helt annorlunda när vi ytligt gnäller ”men, jag har sagt till så många gånger”. Vi kanske har hamnat i tjat-diket och uppgivet devalverat vårt relationskapital och tappat vår tro på ORDEN?

När du talar ord som helt seriöst är helt seriösa: ’Jag älskar dig’ – för att ta några väldigt vanliga ord – blir det ord som träffar människors hjärtan. När de ser att du menar vad du säger – genom att ditt liv bekräftar vad du säger – tror de på dig och vad du talar om. Vi talar här om en kommunikation från hjärta till hjärta, inte så mycket från huvud till huvud. Jag tror att du förstår skillnaden. Johannes 17:8

(en) When Jesus prays ”I have given to them the words which you have given me” it happens with the greatest trust in the words themselves and how they will affect the listeners. He has ”given to them” the words. And they ”have received” them. The WORDS are carriers of so many wonderful things from heaven; eternal life for instance. It is ”deadly serious”. This is totally different compared to when we superficially moan ”but I have told them so many times”. Maybe we have gone into the nagging ditch and devalued our relationships and our faith in WORDS?

When you honestly speak serious words: ’I love you’ – to mention a few very common words – it becomes words that touches the heart of humans. When they see that you mean what you say – your life confirming what you say – they believe in you and what you are talking about. We are speaking about a communication from heart to heart, not so much from head to head. I believe that you understand the difference. John 17:8
